Fairfield University Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions

The Fairfield University Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions is a graduate education school and one of the professional schools of Fairfield University located in Fairfield, Connecticut. The school offers fully accredited graduate programs, according to the Connecticut State Department of Higher Education and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).〔(GSEAP Programs / Accreditation Listing )〕 The school also offers an undergraduate Teacher Certification Program for Secondary Education in collaboration with the Fairfield University College of Arts and Sciences.
==History==
*1950: First graduate classes in education were held on a coeducation basis. The Education Program for teacher certification was accredited by the State of Connecticut.〔(History of Fairfield University )〕
*1963: Graduate Department of Education became the Graduate School of Education.〔
*1975: School expanded its mission to include the training for the human services professions.〔(Brief History of the School )〕
*1981: Name changed from The Graduate School of Education to the Graduate School of Education and Allied Professions, to reflect the additional scope of the graduate programs.〔
*2000: The Connecticut Writing Project, a branch of the National Writing Project offering professional development program for teachers in K-13, moved to Fairfield University.〔(Connecticut Writing Project moves to Fairfield University )〕
*2008: School granted full accreditation with no stipulations by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, the first denominational school in Connecticut to earn this recognition.
